What Momo stores
- Your email address, and your password as a hash β never the password itself.
- Your name and the emoji you pick as an avatar. The person you share a group with sees both.
- Your expenses: date, amount, currency, payment method, installments, category and detail.
- When you log an expense from a bank notification through the Shortcut, the text of that notification, so the app can show you what it read.
- Your settings: which currencies, payment methods and categories you use.
- If you turn notifications on, the device token Apple gives the app, so the server knows where to send them.
- If you subscribe to Momo Pro, the proof of purchase Apple signs: which plan, when it started and when it renews or ends. Payment details stay with Apple; Momo never sees them.
What Momo does not do
- No tracking. No analytics. No advertising. No third-party SDKs of any kind β the app talks to one server, and that server is Momo's.
- No IP addresses, no device fingerprints, no location.
- Nothing is sold, rented or shared with anyone.
Who can see your expenses
You. And, for the expenses inside a shared group, the one other person in that group β that is the whole point of the feature, and it is the only case.
Deleting everything
Settings β Profile settings β Delete my account. It deletes the account and everything attached to it β your email, your name, your avatar, your expenses, your settings β immediately and for good. There is no grace period and no copy kept.
Two things survive, and only these two. The first: if you are in a group with Joint account on and the other person is still there, the expenses you logged into that group stay with them. Those are the household's, and deleting your account should not take half of someone else's history with it. Nothing that names you stays attached to them β the app shows those expenses as a former partner's. With Joint account off they leave with you, and if nobody is left in the group, the group goes too.
The second: if you have Momo Pro, deleting the account does not cancel the subscription: Apple keeps charging it until you cancel it in Settings β your name β Subscriptions. The proof of purchase is kept with no account attached, so the same Apple ID can restore it in a new one.
Momo sends email for exactly three things: confirming your address when you sign up, resetting a forgotten password, and telling you when someone joins or leaves your group. There is no newsletter and there is no way to end up on one.
Beta
Momo is in beta on TestFlight. If you are testing it, treat it as software that can still lose your data, and keep anything you truly need somewhere else too.
